"Gone are the days of one-size-fits-all workplaces. Today's offices need to be fluid, flexible, and vibrant to match the dynamic rhythms of modern work life." Dustin Sammarco, PMP shares nine essential questions at each phase of a project — ensuring clarity, alignment and successful outcomes: • How do I pick the best people to help me? • Do we agree on the Vision? • What are the project Priorities? • What is the user Experience? • Did we forget anyone? • Does the project meet the budget and schedule? • What can’t we control? • Is the organization ready for change? • Why are we doing this?
A successful project requires ongoing assessment, dialogue, and inquiry. As design professionals, we are privileged to work on unique projects with Clients of varying expertise. Our role extends beyond delivering successful design; we're here to support our Clients as Partners in the process.

We didn’t let a little rain stop us from celebrating a momentous day for Athene North Shore Recreation Area at Easter Lake Park! Shive-Hattery team members enjoyed celebrating the soft opening with all its strategic partners, amazing donors and dedicated staff who made this game-changing project a reality. We are tremendously honored to have worked alongside Polk County Conservation and so many others on a recreational amenity focused on universal design and accessibility for all ages and abilities that will serve the City of Des Moines and greater Polk County. ▪ The Hansen Company, Inc ▪ Uncurbed ▪ The Harkin Institute ▪ Great Outdoors Foundation ▪ Des Moines Rowing This project wouldn’t have been possible without the generous lead donation from Athene and all the partners who contributed. The Athene North Shore Recreation Area will officially open Sunday, May 5th during a public celebration from 10 am to 4 pm. We can’t wait for everyone to enjoy the programming and fun events to come! #AtheneNorthShore #UniversalDesign #dsmusa

Once a blank greenspace, the Healing Garden at the Mary Greeley Medical Center has blossomed into a serene retreat where patients can connect with nature while receiving care. 🌺 Why nature? Access to nature can improve emotional health and act as a powerful ally in the healing journey. In this healing garden, every element is designed with care and purpose — to offer peace, comfort and a natural path to healing. #WLAM2024 #ThisIsLandscapeArchitecture

The Athene North Shore Recreation Area at Easter Lake Park is nearing completion and is set to open to the public next month! Challenged with creating the most universally designed, diverse and equitable outdoor recreation space possible, we’re proud to be a part of the design team alongside Polk County Conservation and their strategic partners. Landscape Architect Garret Munch, PLA, ASLA will offer insights learned throughout the project at the upcoming ASLA Central States Conference — including gathering input from public outreach campaigns and focus groups and developing a freely-available Universal Design checklist. #WLAM2024 #ThisIsLandscapeArchitecture #PlacesOfBelonging American Society of Landscape Architects

Improving the pedestrian and cyclist experience was an important goal of the Ranshaw Way Phase 5 roadway reconstruction project in the City of North Liberty, IA. The pedestrian tunnel promotes connectivity to the city trail networks and encourages passive recreation. Extensive retaining walls provide a canvas for an eye-catching bicycle-themed artistic installation." #WLAM2024 #thisislandscapearchitecture American Society of Landscape Architects
